TrailAudio is your virtual walking guide, providing information about all aspects of the trail in short, manageable soundbytes. The Benbulben Forest Walk is available in English and Irish.
Located on the Wild Atlantic Way, Benbulben Forest Walk has inspired writers and artists, poets and musicians for many years. Among them is Ireland’s best known poet WB Yeats, who came to Sligo many times in his youth and returned time and again as an adult to write some of his best loved poetry like The Song of Wandering Aengus, The Stolen Child and of course The Lake Isle of Innisfree.
He was also inspired by the myths and legends that surround Benbulben, and this location is one of 14 Points of Interest that comprise the Yeats Trail. This section of the audio guide will tell you about Yeats and some of those mythical stories that have been passed down through the Ages.
This TrailAudio is supported by Power to Change, a partnership between Atlantic Technological University and Sligo Public Participation Network, funded by the Government of Ireland through the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment.
