About Us

TrailAudio works with organisations and tourism providers to develop top quality audio guides. These offer an enhanced experience for walkers by sharing the features, biodiversity and heritage of walking trails.

The idea for TrailAudio came from our team’s years of experience in trail development and promotion. And as avid walkers ourselves, we figured that while walking is a wonderful activity that suits all ages and abilities, what if we could provide a little information about the terrain, locality and environment along the way.

That’s how TrailAudio was developed – it’s a web and App-based platform that adds value to your walk, providing information about flora and fauna as well as practical tips, mindfulness exercises and advice on what to do locally once you’ve finished your walk.

It’s easy to use, by simply scanning the QR code with your phone you’ll access a world of information in a range of languages that will enhance your understanding and appreciation of the walk.

Multilingual, interesting and educational

Walking is our most popular recreational activity. It is accessible for all and improves both our physical health and mental wellbeing.

TrailAudio technology makes walking trails more accessible for all. For those with visual impairments or reading difficulties, detailed narration brings the landscape to life. For multilingual visitors, translations ensure that everyone can enjoy and understand the trail’s significance.

Whether developing trails for the local community or promoting them up to attract tourists to the area, TrailAudio opens up a world of information by providing intuitive, concise audio guides to enhance your walk – at every level.

Work with us to develop a TrailAudio

Available throughout Ireland, each TrailAudio guide is carefully researched, written to highlight your trail’s USPs, in the languages of your choice and recorded to broadcast specifications.

It can be updated, revised and edited. So if your trail changes, you add to the trail or change its features, we simply edit and update the audio.

There’s no need to replace signs, everything is done digitally to ensure your TrailAudio guide stays up to date, interesting and popular. And our data analytics provide valuable feedback on how the public interacts with your walking trails, helping you to plan for the future.

TrailAudio builds the profile and popularity of your walking trails in the following ways:

  • Provides walker feedback on the quality of your trails
  • Helps you tailor and develop your trails
  • Improves quality of life for walkers in your community
  • Provides links to tourism and visitor amenities in the locality
  • Raises awareness of the broader walks infrastructure in the area
  • Reports on data analytics, downloads and links to businesses
  • Creates a healthier community by promoting physical and mental wellbeing
  • Underlines the importance of Leave No Trace principles

How it works

  • Scan any of the QR codes located at Points of Interest (POIs) on the walking trail.
  • This brings you to the TrailAudio.ie website or App where you select your language. Click here for an example of a Point of Interest in Hazelwood, County Sligo.
  • The audio files play automatically as you walk, providing information that gives a more immersive experience.
  • For an even better acoustic experience you can pair with headphones via Bluetooth.
  • Each POI has varied information to keep things as interesting as the walk itself.

The files are short, so there’s plenty of time to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature before you reach the next POI.
